How does a hydrogen-based energy system for neighborhoods work?
Electricity generated by photovoltaics is converted into hydrogen in an electrolyzer and stored. If required, the hydrogen is converted back into electricity or used to generate heat. The components – PV system, electrolyser, storage system, fuel cell – work in combination and are dimensioned on a modular basis as required.
Is the system suitable for new development areas and existing neighborhoods?
Yes. Our modular solutions are suitable for both new and existing neighborhood structures. They can be integrated into existing heat or electricity grids or be designed to be completely self-sufficient – depending on the municipality’s objectives.
How safe is it to use hydrogen in the home?
Our systems meet all relevant safety standards, e.g. for pressure vessels, explosion protection and gas installations. Intelligent sensors, automatic shut-off systems and a robust design ensure maximum operational safety.
What subsidies are available for hydrogen systems in the municipalities & neighborhoods sector?
Hydrogen solutions for municipalities and districts are eligible for funding – e.g. as part of the National Hydrogen Strategy, via KfW programs, BEW (federal funding for efficient heating networks) or regional innovation funding.
