Objective:
A leading manufacturer of recycled cardboard is turning to green energy to decarbonize its production. The aim is to reduce the company’s carbon footprint by using self-generated hydrogen while stabilizing energy costs. This is the company’s response to rising energy prices, stricter climate regulations and the growing demand for climate-neutral packaging solutions.Solution:
Installation of a complete H₂ system for flexible energy and process supply:- 75 kW PEM electrolyzer, powered by green electricity (PV system or PPA electricity)
- Hydrogen storage for intermediate storage when required
- Integration in process heat supply, e.g. for drying as a substitute for fossil fuels
Applications for the use of hydrogen:
- Own power supply: Hydrogen can be converted back into electricity to avoid peak loads and reduce energy costs.
- Decarbonization of processes: In the future, green hydrogen will replace fossil fuels in production, particularly in the generation of process heat.
