Independent, clean, scalable:
Logistics with H₂ self-sufficiency

H₂ for a logistics company

Modern hydrogen logistics thanks to complete H₂ system

A logistics company is replacing its battery-powered forklift trucks with hydrogen technology and is operating its own complete modular H₂ system for this purpose. The green hydrogen required is generated directly on site using a 150 kWp photovoltaic system. Thanks to a seasonal H₂ storage system, the entire forklift fleet can be supplied with zero emissions all year round. In-house production also reduces dependence on the energy market and makes green logistics practicable.

Project example:
Supply of a forklift fleet using H₂

Objective:

A logistics company is gradually converting its forklift fleet to hydrogen drives in order to counter energy prices, CO₂ levies and regulatory requirements. The aim is to decarbonize the entire logistics operation by setting up its own hydrogen infrastructure.

Solution:

Installation of a complete H₂ system on the company premises, consisting of

  • 50 kW electrolyzer for the daily production of approx. 20 kg of green hydrogen
  • 150 kWp photovoltaic system to supply the plant with renewable electricity
  • Hydrogen storage for flexible use and intermediate storage
  • Refueling system (350 bar) for fuel cell forklifts

Use cases in operation:

  • Direct refueling of the forklift fleet on the company premises (refueling time: 3-5 minutes per vehicle for 2 kg hydrogen)
  • Security of supply thanks to in-house hydrogen production, independent of external supply chains
  • CO₂ savings of several hundred tons per year, depending on fleet size and mileage
  • Sector coupling: surplus energy can be stored or fed into the power grid
  • Modular container solution: Flexibly scalable and relocatable for additional locations

Advantages:

  • Sustainable cost reduction by eliminating diesel and reducing CO₂ levies
  • Positive image as a provider of green logistics
  • Use of funding programs as part of the national hydrogen strategy
  • Future-proof, emission-free transport and intralogistics solutions
